Life gets busy...

School and life are keeping me very busy.  Last week we enjoyed the beach for a few days, then Sunday in Long Beach for the 5k run which was lots of fun.  Monday began with school again where more assignments were given out in French class and Painting class.  I got the perspective drawing approved and transfered onto a canvas.  I also put together a canvas for my master study which will be 39 x 31 inches.  Rudy helped me put the stretcher bars together and then staple the canvas onto it.  This evening I put on a 2nd coat of gesso and hoping tomorrow to put on the undertone.  I have decided on a Matisse for the study.

This evening I began my new 9x12 inch Raffine sketchbook.  I began in the back to try it out.  I think I'm going to like it a lot.  I haven't worked a larger sketchbook in awhile so it will be a bit different for me.  Here is the sketch (in the back of the sketchbook) I did tonight.

Your lady is so beautiful Marta!! I also have a Raffine but haven't used it in awhile. Now I need to get it out and get reacquainted.

She is lovely isn't she? But this isn't mine yet. This is a portrait of Mdme Matisse by her husband done in 1907. I am excited about starting the painting!

I think doing the Matisse with be a great project! You've chosen well -- it suits your personality.

I look forward to seeing what you do in the Raffine. I have a big one, also, and have done a few things in it. The paper is really great for drawing!

  4. What fun these legs of your journey seem to be. I've loved the "studies" I've done... whether from paintings or photographs. Sort of like having bannisters on a stairway-- you can't fall off!
