Rudy in the kitchen

Rudy in the kitchen, originally uploaded by mmvgonzales.

I am struggling with white conte on toned charcoal paper. We are doing this in figure class and so far mine are awful. I really don't like the look of this type of art nor the concept. But it's class and I have to do it. I tried this at home this evening but it still looks and feels awkward.

It is great that you get to sketch at home. I am looking forward to seeing more of your new experiment.

HI! Marta: Sharpen a couple of the Conte's. You are doing great with the White on Black. You have to recover the areas more than you think. Get a good soft eraser. These drawings are tough.

Very interesting, class certainly makes one stretch and experiment and therefore learn. We miss your regular Fun posts but you are certinly interjecting new interesting material. :-)

  4. Why do you think you are having trouble with this, Marta? Has your teacher commented? I like the chair a lot. The sketch of Rudy I feel needs the darks and lights reversed. Does that make sense, or is it just my head cold making me crazy? ;)

I just saw where you were. Entirely to much fun! For just YOU! OH, Such a joy! Oh! Such a weekend.
I am taking online class. However, I cannot share the details as those copyrighted. I still wish I was in this class. It makes me want to purchase two skeletons. Maybe Three. ( She has lost it!- just to help you here.)
The most fun classes I had, were with Stonehenge Black paper or Mi-Tentes. You set up your Skeletons, ( child skeletons freak people out, I would think you have a different view.) Turn off the lights and spot light. Oh! yes, it helps to have some large polls or objects that can cast shadows on to the skeletons. Pick you spot carefully, Then be prepared for a four hour session on full size paper with your whites, Remember there is more than one shade of white. (Male, Female, and Child- Boy and girl. Family of four. A goal for me to accomplish. True skeletons, Plastic of course, in my closet.)
Wonderful! Thanks for all the Joy!

I like it too Marta. You are doing better than you 'feel' you are doing.
