Intensity

The figure class is in full swing this week with lectures, studio time, critiques and assignments for the semester. I realized today that my artistic focus is going to have to be committed 100% to this new direction. I am missing my watercolors but am willing to sacrifice for now to learn the most that I can from this class. I feel very fortunate to be in this class with this particular instructor that I highly admire.  I'll post some of this week's work on Thursday with some notes on what I am learning.  This sketch is done in my sketchbook/journal that I have begun for this class.  I copied it from one of my new books:  Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist by Peck.  It's done in pencil: 2b to 6b.

What a wonderful opportunity. It should be second nature to you being an RN. Which reminds me, did I mention I was a retired RN-ICU and (the dreaded) Infection Control Nurse?

The skull is looking great. I love that you draw it with confident.

I always feel scare when I look at my anatomy book. I hope one day I can get over my fear.

  8. Great bones, Marta! You are obviously getting so much out of your life classes.

I loved the self-portrait, it certainly isn't as young and beautiful as you but it is full of character. Very much enjoying all your class work.
