Roma

Our travels continue.  We arrived in Rome yesterday afternoon and took a wild taxi ride into Rome and our B/B...we pushed the old wood door and climed 4 flights of stairs to find a yound Romanian girl waiting to check us in.  Our room is very spacious for italian hotel rooms but noisy from the street...but this is Rome!

We took a long walk past the wedding cake monument (Victorio Emanuel) to Campo di fiori an outdoor gathering piazza for a wonderful dinner serverd to us by a girl from Detroit here to learn italian. From there we walked to piazza navona where I was dissappointed to find the Fontana di 4 fumi under renovation with scaffoling and dry as a doornail.... but we got some pictures anyway before heading to my favorite gelaterria for pistachio-nutella gelato.

Onto the Pantheon were the stucture left us in awe...it was night, dark and impressive.....I did a great sketch and came back and painted it as a night scene...and forgot today to take apicture to post here...perhaps tomorrow.  While we were there the President of Chile showed up and madame president walked out of her limo with a wave to the crowd........ah...I have seen my first president.

a walk past a few more piazzas and collums and then past our B and B to the Trevi fountain..a photo op here with Rudy.....to bed and a new day.

Today we headed to the Colosseum and the roman forum...what a great day....lots of pictures but i am going to have to go back for some sketching because there were many possiblilities....then to lunch at an outdoor cafe whre i called my friends at work..it was 4:30am there.  Next Amy and I did some shopping and I bought the most beautiful black pumps..Amy called them power shoes.....and now some walking, a cafe for some espresso and a stop at the internet cafe....oh did I forget to mention....I LOVE ROME!!!!!!!!!!! ciao...

How to keep me happy...could take a lifetime to learn....and still be worth it.
